19th Century Thai Elephant Bell

19 1/4" high x 14" wide x 6 1/2" deep

This large bronze bell is a handsome example of typical Southeast Asian animal bells. This one was secured in a beautifully carved and bentwood frame, to be mounted upon the elephant's yoke.

A similar one can be found in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
