Charcoal Drawing by Evert Lundquist
Evert Lundquist (1904-1994)
Circa 1950
23 1/4" high x 19" wide

This dynamic drawing suggests a swimmer or bather, floating on her back, the water in gentle motion around her. The Swedish painter Evert Lundquist (1904-1994) resisted Constructivism and other forms of abstraction that were dominant in the years of his formative artistic development. His work was at the forefront of a new expressionism in Swedish art of the 1950s, along with such contemporaries as Olle Nyman and Roland Kempe.

Signed. Dimensions of the gilt wood frame are 26" x 30 1/2"
