Exceptional Swedish Rosewood and Chrome Commode
Circa 1930
Burl, chrome, rosewood
28" high x 39 1/2" wide x 19" deep

A work of extraordinary craftsmanship which combines an angular, Minimalist design with opulent materials. The rosewood and burr walnut veneers with their almost Baroque surface contrast sharply with the geometric chrome knobs and legs. The marble top is beautifully figured, of a subtle greenish-grey which rewards a closer look. Attributed to Ture Ryberg, the Swedish architect and designer.
