Frits Henningsen, like many of his peers, was trained in Copenhagen but educated his eye by studying the earlier forms of French and English cabinetmakers. He was able to transform that influence into something distinctly modern, organic, and practical. His attention to quality was such that he produced almost all of his own designs in his own workshop.
The subtle elegance of this wingback chair with its restrained curves is enhanced by the recent re-upholstery in Zak + Fox's cotton / jute "Pampa" and a navy leather welt.
