Graphite and metallic ink on paper
8" x 5 1/4"

Graphite and metallic ink on a book page from Kafka’s Amerika.

1989 (Signed and dated)

K.O.S. stands for Kids of Survival, South Bronx teenagers with whom Rollins collaborated in the 1980s. This is a small example of the larger group works they created, layering pages of books with painting, often abstract, then making grids of those pages. For a time, their work was a mainstay of both activist-artist collectives and blue-chip galleries. Rollins died at the end of last year.

Frame is 13" x 10" x 1/2"
